Temple of Heaven – Taintan Park

This park is one of our favorites to photograph. No visit has ever disappointed.  Every weekend is a festival.  The earlier the better. Choirs, bands, dance, games, weddings, and more. Photographers are welcome to stick your lens right in the middle and snap away.
Go on a weekend morning.   It’s a long ways from wherever you are so suck it up and just go.  You won’t be dissatisfied.
Of course it’s best if it is a crisp, bright blue picture perfect morning, but just go.
Crowds, tour buses with flags and bullhorns, food and drink sellers (consider a water), long ticket lines with confusing options (take the most expensive that lets you all the way through).
You’re in. Mini bands in outrageous costumes, flag and banner waving dance groups, ball room dancing, exercise  groups, hacky sack circles, paddle ball competitions and all before you get to the first building. Sometimes for me that is 100 snaps. Big fun for a weekend photographer.
One day I was surprised to find that I forgot to put the memory card in my camera. I was already there and ready to take pictures! So I just walked across the street to the pearl market, HongQiao. The first floor is loaded with tech.  There is a pretty reliable photo stall around the corner just past the eyeglasses. With a little negotiation, I was ready to go. Well with a stop at Starbucks and Saryl wanted to look at some pearls…
