Our photographs aim for respect. It is more difficult to show the best angle, a sharper focus, the most flattering light, but it gives a more refined photo. Something different than a snapshot. We try.
A picture with no reference can come from anywhere. An interesting tree full of knots and twisted branches is enchanting if the Temple of Heaven peaks out from behind. We try to leave our audience with a whisper of where.
When we started taking pictures in Beijing it was so long ago our photos were on film. Some were printed and stuck in albums, some shoved in boxes with their negatives lost in the shed out back.
Once we went digital our images tsunamied into a wave of hard drives we are still trying to manage. A sea of photographs wanting to say something. This blog is our answer.
Happy Snapping!
